Tonight's progress. If only the swap was as easy as a handful of 10mm bolts

Started drilling out the spot welds then remembered I had a plasma cutter.

Really just waiting to get the bronco donor sold/scrapped before I can move too far forward. Only 1 truck down at a time

It is. I needed a wide, cheap, and strong axle. This fit the bill, though it is a heavy pig. Probably 100 pounds more than my tundra axle. But I still have less than 700 into a full float axle with 3/8" axle tubes
Damn man a 14 bolt is heavy as shit!! probly 200 lbs heavier. lol, but whatever works.... i live near watsonville so we are close.

It's not that bad compared to an equally strong housing. But yeah maybe 100-150lbs heavier than the tundra axle.

Any 3.5x 1/2" thick axle tubes with 35 spline shafts and a 10.5 ring gear will be pretty heavy. Mine is just ugly lol

My parents live in Watsonville and that's where I keep the truck

Looking good man. Curios to see how you finish up the crossmember/mounts. I heard a rumor that she will be ready in September.

the spread on the mounts look huge, or is it just the picture?

I think its the picture. We went off factory mount locations and put them exactly where they needed to be. I squared up the beams on the mount, did the math...drew some lines under the truck for a plum line...and worked with that. then we just put the jig where it would clear everything, like the oil pan, tacked it up, and started building the mounts off the frame.
We used 188 wall 2in, and once he get things a bit more mocked up he is going to make it unbolt able so if we want to we can duplicate it.
