I’m in the middle of building he-shed. Thought I’d post some pictures up here and start a thread to ask questions since I have no idea what I’m doing.
We poured the cement in December days before it snowed. Now that town is thawed out again I can restart the project
Myself and 3 guys put the big metal up today.

What's the size and height of the structure? Looks good with the big pines in the background

Crazy the amount of purlins because of the snow load. My shop in phoenix had 0 snow load and had like 4 purlins per side for a 50' width. Also my shop in Phoenix they basically just looked to make sure a bolt in every hole and that the ones at concrete were tight, aka they took a crescent wrench and checked 1 on each beams. Commiefornia Inspections and Snow are must be more strict than AZ

Yeah that's crazy. My building was 50' x 80' x 16' and it only had 4 main red iron beams, 1 every 20'. Your building has as much red iron as mine that was 4000 sq ft. I don't even want to know what that building costs now, especially with steel prices. My shop was $42k and now it would be almost $200K. and mine was 10 week build time and now it's 8-9 months from when permits were done and building was paid in full.

Lol no tommy, they aint gotten that retarded on price. Building lead time is 5-6 months worse case (mine showed up a month early) and cost of the building for that same size is double what you posted (84k). if you were to add in labor to erect it, concrete, footings, dirt pad, etc it would be in the 170-180k range for that same building.

Yeah a friend got a quote from Bunger Steel for a 50x100 16' building and he said it was $110K for building alone. I built and assembled my entire building myself, wired the entire place myself. did everything But the concrete and garage doors and I was into the building WITH 2 5 Ton AC units and 8" of wall insulation. And I did the entire inside with OSB as well the whole 16' height. 110 sheets which was $850 and now would be like $5-6K alone.

Yeah I got lucky and found my house with a 30x80 shop already up that I need finished the inside of. I want to add a second roll up door but the one 10'x10' door on one side works for now. I learned is get the biggest shop possible by permits or budget. Whatever restriction you got.

Looking forward to see what you do out of the snow and able to work past dark in there.

That's a lot of purlins! (Are they called purlins?)

I'm guessing that's for the 6.9' of snow load?
